Our Charter in 1951
BY LAWS OF THE UNIVERSITY OF CALIFORNIA AMATEUR RADIO CLUB
Revised to April 6, 1951
I Membership
A. Dues: Dues shall be one dollar and fifty cent ($1.50) per regular semester. (Adopted by referendum Feb. 20, 1951)
B. (Repealed by Board of Directors April 6, 1951)
C. Honorary members shall be admitted or expelled by an (sic) unanimous vote of the Board of Directors upon petition by at least five (5) active members. Such petition shall be acted upon within six (6) academic weeks upon presentation of petition to an elective member of the Board of Directors.
II Board of Directors
A. Functions of the Board of Directors:
1. President: The president shall call meetings of the on petition of not less than five (5) members. He shall call meetings of the Board of Directors at his own discretion or on request of any one (1) Board member. He shall preside at all such meetings. He shall appoint appointive officers provided in Sec. B of this article. He shall sign all checks.
2. Vice President: The vice president shall assume the duties of the president in the event of the latter’s permanent disability. He shall preside at meetings in the absence of the president.
3. Secretary: The secretary shall give notice of membership meetings by notification of each member by post-card and by notice submitted the the Daily Californian. He shall give notice of Board meetings by telephone or by post-card to each member of the Board. He shall keep minutes of the club. He shall have charge of all records except those of the treasurer and keep them available for inspection by the board and faculty advisor.
4. Treasurer: The treasurer shall have charge of all funds and shall disburse them on direction of the Board. He shall maintain a bank account and sign all checks. He shall disburse petty cash to the president in amounts not to exceed five dollars ($5.00). He shall re-imburse the secretary for postage expenses. He shall keep complete account and keep them available for inspection by the Board and faculty advisor.
5. The Board of Directors shall assign the duties of appointive officers. It shall, by unanimous vote, expel members for just cause. At the close of spring semester, it shall appoint an interim committee, which committee shall assume the functions of the Board until the newly elected Board is installed at the beginning of the fall semester, provided: the interim committee may take no action requiring a vote of the membership and may expend no funds in excess of an amount specified by the appointing board. At the first meeting of the fall semester, the committee shall report its activities to the membership, such report to be subject to approval by the Board. B. Appointive officers shall be:
1. Communications Manager
2. Senior Instructor
These are to be appointed by the president subject to approval by a majority vote of the elective officers.
III Elections
Officers for each semester shall be nominated at the next to last regular membership meeting of each preceding semester. Officers shall be elected by post-card ballot of the membership as soon as each nominee has been notified of his nomination and accepted or declined. Officers shall be installed at the first meeting of each semester. Vacancies on the Board of Directors shall be filled by Appointment by the Board. (Adopted by referendum Feb. 20, 1951.)
IV Miscellaneous
Officers of the Board of Directors shall be construed to mean a total vote of not less than four (4) members of the Board of Directors.
