Mid-November Update
Filed Under Club News | Comments Off
Greetings W6BB-ers!
CQP went very well, with over 550 QSOs for W6BB! Pacificon was a lot of fun, and we managed to connect with other school/university club stations.
While our turnout for the CW portion of the November Sweepstakes was low (Elmer K6JEB, Jack, mentoring Bill, AG6RB), “we” managed a clean sweep and 700+ QSOs. Now, during the SSB portion of the Sweepstakes the station is being operated by a pair of students, KQ1N (Joel) and AG6RB. It’s the first Sweepstakes for each of them, but they’ve had lots of support from the other contestants and the UC Berkeley alumni.
The W6BB club seems to be getting some great momentum lately with new radios used in the SSB sweepstakes this weekend. KQ1N’s Icom 7100 was checked out by our infamous Elmer, confidant and president: K6JEB, who personally gave the radio the blessing to be used at the W6BB club station. Currently it has facilitated 120 SSB QSOs (confirmed radio contacts) on 80, 40 20 & 15 meters.. as of 07:51 UTC (23:51 pst) And sweepstakes weekend is not up yet.. More to come.
Members, please feel free to stop by the station tomorrow for observation or to check out the slick new Icom 7100. If you can’t make it in person, look for us on the band (and give us a spot if you can find us! All, as always, are welcome!
Regards,
Bill (AG6RB) and Joel (KQ1N)
