September Summary and October Outlook
Filed Under Club News | Comments Off
September was an exciting month for W6BB. Our recruiting efforts have been successful, and the new members have brought a great deal of knowledge and excitement to the club. Here are a few highlights of the month:
- Portable operations from Memorial Glade, the campus quad. While on-air contacts have been few, the in-person contacts have been pretty steady.
- We had some generous donations of HF equipment to the club.
- The donation of equipment spurred some through cleaning in the shack, and updated the layout of operating positions and test equipment for better efficiency.
- One of the 10-15-20 tri-band yagis has been assembled and works very well.
- During the power outage, W6BB members were standing by alongside NALCO ARES RACES in case amateur radio support was requested for emergency communication.
October is already off to a good start, too. The California QSO party is underway, W6BB has been making numerous contacts, and having fun at the same time. We’re also looking forward to Pacificon, a major ham radio convention in nearby Santa Clara. Then later this month is the School Club Roundup, where we will be competing against other schools and universities. In our spare time, we might also put up a tower for the yagi. Station facilities will also be receiving attention.
